Hoblip’s medical corner: Müller-Weiss syndrome vs Muller Rice Syndrome
Once again Goerge has asked (pestered) me into coming up with a bit of medical trivia and then added his own whimsical little take on it. I tell you, if he didn’t have claws and a bite which would give a raging hippo a run for its money, I’d give him a good finger-wagging. No euphemism intended. So here we are, another obscure gem from the medical archive.
Also known as: Osteochondrose, Typ Müller-Weiss (German), Aseptische os naviculare pedis malacia, Typ Müller-Weiss (German). named after: Walther Müller(German orthopaedic surgeon dob 1888) Konrad Weiss(Austrian radiologist dob 1891) Bilateral, symmetrical osteochondrosis of os naviculare pedis in adults. It is marked by pain in the feet enhanced by ambulation, but may also be asymptomatic. It differs from Köhler’s disease in that the age of onset is higher.
